How we walk alongside you

Care that fits your person.

The toughest days are exhausting. A caregiver takes the daily load, meals, housekeeping, rides to appointments, so your loved one can rest and your family can simply be family.

We provide steady comfort and companionship, and respite for those doing the caring.

Signs it may be time for cancer support at home

  • The everyday tasks, cooking, laundry and tidying, are slipping because fatigue takes over by midday
  • Getting to and from appointments has become stressful, or there is no longer anyone free to drive
  • Your loved one is spending more time alone, and you worry about their spirits as much as their strength
  • The family member doing the caring is running on empty, missing work or their own rest to keep up
  • Simple comforts, a warm meal, a clean bed and a familiar face, are harder to manage on the hard days

Noticing one or two of these does not mean a decision has to be made today. It simply means it may be time for a conversation.

We send more than caregivers. We send good listeners, gentle hands, people who notice the small things: the favorite teacup, the afternoon light, the stories told twice and loved twice.

In-home support from Golden Touch, cancer support

The small things,
done with care.

Illness rarely keeps a schedule, and the days that take the most out of your loved one are the hardest to predict. Our care flexes with them, more hours on the exhausting days and a lighter touch when they feel stronger, so help is there when it is truly needed. A caregiver keeps the home clean and calm, keeps easy meals within reach, and handles the errands and rides so your time together is spent together and not on chores. Everything we do is non-medical, and we work quietly around your loved one's own doctor and appointment schedule.

  • Rest and comfort between visits
  • Meals and light housekeeping
  • Rides to appointments
  • Companionship and emotional support
  • Respite for family caregivers

Good questions

Cancer support questions Hartford families ask

How quickly can care start when we need help right away?

In most cases care can start within 24 hours of your first call, and even faster when your loved one is coming home from the hospital. If a hard week is ahead, our Care Coordinator answers 24/7 and we will line up a caregiver quickly. There is a four-hour minimum per visit, and we build the schedule around the days that matter most.

How much does cancer support cost, and how can we pay for it?

You will get a clear quote on your first call, with no surprises later. Families pay in different ways, including private pay, long-term care insurance, VA benefits and Medicaid, subject to verification. We are glad to walk through what applies to your situation before anything begins.

Is this home health care, or something different?

It is something different. Golden Touch is a non-medical homemaker and companion agency, so we do not provide hands-on health services or anything that belongs to a doctor. What we do is handle everyday life, meals, light housekeeping, rides to appointments, companionship and medication reminders, so your loved one can rest and the family can simply be family.

How do you choose the right caregiver for my loved one?

Every caregiver is part of our licensed, bonded and insured Connecticut homemaker and companion agency, and we match someone whose temperament and experience fit your loved one. Comfort matters most during a hard season, so if the fit is not right we will re-match at no charge. You are never locked in to a caregiver who does not feel like the right person.

My mom has good days and very hard days. Can the schedule flex with that?

Yes, and this is one of the most helpful things we do. We can add hours on the exhausting days, cover the mornings after an appointment, and ease back when she feels stronger. Just call our Care Coordinator, who answers 24/7, and we will adjust the plan to match how she is feeling that week.
